The Flag City Classic is the brain child of one man. That man is Michael Lewis. The dream started with the idea that Findlay needed two premier soccer fields complete with drainage, irrigation, and lights that will allow the children of Hancock County and the surrounding area the opportunity to play on world class fields "Under the Lights" in Prime Time. With the help of the Findlay Rotary, Marathon Oil Company, and Mr. Michael Gardner, this dream has become a reality. With the fields nearing completion Mike realized that these fields gave Findlay the unique opportunity to create a World Class soccer tournament to be played at Rotary Arena.

You see, Mike has spent the last several years taking his two sons to tournaments all over the Tri-State Area. In his travels he often found himself thinking that if he were in charge of a tournament certain things would be different. Things like: better field locations, better restroom facilities, better parking, better hotel accommodations, better restaurants, easier access to hand sanitizer and up to the minute scoring and standings to name a few. Mike knew that in order to pull this off, he would need to assemble a team of leaders like the soccer world had never seen to serve on the FCC committee. With the help of the committee Mike is focusing on these improvements and continues to find new ways to make the Flag City Classic at Rotary Arena the premier Soccer tournament in Ohio!

With all of that being said, possibly the most impressive part of this tournament is that the proceeds will not only go towards Rotary Arena and the Findlay Soccer Club, a portion will also be donated to National and International Relief Projects through Rotary such as supporting a literacy program right here in the United States and digging wells in remote African villages.
